ToughDisplay Firmware Flash

Flash or restore your ToughDisplay device firmware

Flash target: ToughDisplay 2.8" firmware 1.4.20

Instructions

  1. Connect your ToughDisplay using a USB-C data cable.
    • Some cables are charge-only and will not work.
    • The device can remain powered on and showing its normal screen.
  2. Click Install Firmware.
  3. Select the USB serial port when prompted.
  4. Wait for installation to complete (about 60 seconds).

After flashing: If the device does not restart automatically, unplug the USB cable and plug it back in.

Troubleshooting: device not connecting?

Put the device into download mode:

  1. Unplug the USB cable.
  2. Use a paperclip to hold the BOOT button through the case opening.
  3. While holding BOOT, reconnect USB, then release BOOT.
  4. The blank screen is normal; click Install Firmware again.

Also try another data cable or USB port, and close programs using the serial port.
