ToughDisplay Firmware Flash

Flash or restore your ToughDisplay device firmware

Instructions

  1. Connect your ToughDisplay to your computer using a USB-C data cable
    • Note: Some cables are charge-only and won't work
    • The device should be powered on and showing its normal screen
  2. Click the "Install Firmware" button below
  3. Select the USB serial port when prompted (usually "USB Serial" or "COM#")
  4. Wait for the installation to complete (~60 seconds)

After flashing: If the device does not restart automatically, unplug the USB cable and plug it back in.

Troubleshooting: device not connecting?

If the installer cannot connect to your device, you can manually put it into download mode:

  1. Unplug the USB cable from the device
  2. Using a paperclip, press and hold the BOOT button through the small hole on the case
  3. While holding the BOOT button, plug the USB cable back in
  4. Release the BOOT button (the screen will stay blank — this is normal)
  5. Click "Install Firmware" and select the port

Still having trouble?

  • Try a different USB-C cable — many cables are charge-only
  • Try a different USB port on your computer
  • Make sure no other program (like Arduino IDE) is using the serial port

Requirements

  • Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser
  • Desktop or laptop computer (mobile devices not supported)
  • USB-C data cable (not a charge-only cable)
